The Punjab government has given training to almost around three thousand five hundred (3,500) women and that too without any charges under the initiative of Strategic Reforms Unit (SRU)—Women on Wheels (WOW). The training has been provided in five districts of Punjab ever since it was launched back in 2015.
Women on Wheels was launched in 2015, it plans on training forty thousand (40,000) more women in the next few months. The second phase of the launch is all set to introduce subsidized motorbike scheme especially for the women of Punjab.
Salman Sufi informed that SRU has launched thirty such reforms because developing and growing societies depend on women’s development and systems that support their grooming. He added that women are the face of developing Pakistan and it is high time for them to acknowledge the fact that they own the country exactly like men do.
He also said that it is essential for Pakistan as a society to represent itself as a peace-loving nation instead of the negative propaganda that certain sectors portray against the country.
A huge number of participants from different universities, researchers and transport engineers attended the event.
